This is a beautiful, older authentic tribal headrest from Sepik River area, Papua New Guinea. Measures 19″ long and is in excellent condition. Shows wear in the right places and painted in the typical Sepik River style. It is a very stylized carving and possibly made in the form of two alligators. An original piece from the 20th century. It is very difficult to date these but my best estimate would be 1940s-1950s era. Beautifully done and not easy to find.
